Dignity · Transparency · Accessibility · Technology for Good · Community First. We measure success not in numbers alone, but in healthier, happier elderly lives.
This is a noble and timely initiative. In the Indian context, the "Missing Middle"—those who are too well-off for government aid but not wealthy enough for high-cost private healthcare — is a critical demographic. not poor enough to qualify for government aid, yet not wealthy enough to afford private specialist care.
Problem statement: India is home to one of the world's fastest-growing elderly populations. According to recent market research, senior citizens currently constitute about 10-12% of India's population, a figure projected to grow to 20-25% by 2050.Despite this growth, the healthcare system often fails to adequately serve the middle-class elderly. Many suffer from hypertension and diabetes, which require regular monitoring. Furthermore, a sedentary lifestyle and age-related issues contribute to widespread body pain, stress, and poor circulation.
Solution Overview: Project Aashirwad by Sunshine Social Foundation, dedicated to providing accessible and technology-driven basic health benefits and wellness services to middle-class, middle-aged, and elderly populations at subsidised cost (upto 75%) in their localities. This project aims to address the growing healthcare needs of this demographic by offering free, non-invasive health screenings and therapeutic relief services. By leveraging readily available technology and automated devices for routine checks, making the services scalable and cost-effective.
